With the Productizing service, SMART TESTSOLUTIONS offers developers of test systems the transfer of their prototypes into high-quality, quickly and cost-effectively reproducible series products. One example is the inductance tester that we developed for Endress + Hauser, a provider of measuring instruments, services and solutions for industrial process engineering.
However, the systems for inductance measurement on electromagnetic flowmeters were not simply to be transferred into series products, but were also to be functionally expanded and implemented in two variants. In addition to a stationary system that is integrated into the production line of the flowmeters, Endress + Hauser also needs a mobile tester variant that is used for very large test items.
The inductance testers are used in large numbers, worldwide. Distribution therefore involves a great deal of effort, which we completely relieve our customers of. The individual departments can order directly from us, the initiating specialist department at Endress + Hauser is completely left out of the loop. They do not have to deal with procurement problems, worldwide distribution, shipping and maintenance of the systems and can concentrate on their actual tasks.
Endress + Hauser has been consistently pursuing an Industry 4.0 strategy for years. The aim is to intelligently network plant and business processes so that Endress + Hauser itself, as well as the company's customers, have rapid access to all relevant data from the production process and for plant operation at all times. This strategy does not stop at the test systems that serve to ensure the quality of the flowmeters.
One of the new requirements was therefore to equip the testers with an ID chip. In addition, the systems that determine the inductance of the flowmeters were to be equipped with a programmable logic controller (PLC) in the future. Endress + Hauser already had extensive ideas about which components should be installed. SMART looked at these proposals, improved some of them and implemented them for series production.
